My Home Progress : Fans & Lamps

Salam everyone!

Any journey has to end somewhere.... and today I would like to update on the progress of the installation of my fans and lightings after the wiring took place. The contractor finished installing all of my fans and lamps on Dec 2,2014.

I bought all my lamps from ever so famous Houses Lightings which is located in Puchong. The price is very cheap and it gives me some value for my money. I have to warn you that the shop is so jammed packed with people, I suggest you to come early.... so that you can get a VIP treatment. Ahaks! I'll blog about the craziness in Houses Lightings in different entry though.

So let me present you guys with the lights we chose!

By the way, all of the fans are bought earlier from Koo's Lighthing in Seri Kembangan.
This is arrangement for the entire lamps for my living and dining hall. The green lamp for dining... classic! The price tag : Green Lamp : RM59, Rubine Fan RM290, Chandelier : RM329

This one is super cute! I cant remember the exact price tag, I think it is close to RM89

This is the fan and lamp for my master bedroom. The price tag : Fan RM157.50 : Lamp : RM89

This is the fan and lamp for my second and third room. The price tag : Fan RM157.50 : Lamp : RM69

This hanging lamp is for my porch! Super duper cute! Price tag, RM49

I have 2 of this round LED lamps which I put in the Kitchen, 3 square LED lamps just like this one for the master bedroom toilet, utility room and the second toilet. Price tag each is RM26.

Well! I am totally satisfied with the arrangement! Just to remind all of you that the bulbs are sold separately. Each is about RM12 to RM14. The total cost for lamps and fans for the whole house is RM996.00.

I am super busy packing right now! I plan to move this Saturday (Dec 13,2014)... i hope everything will turn out just fine...

Thanks for reading peeps!

My Home Progress : The Wiring!

Hello everyone!

Well, after sharing about my kitchen cabinet, I'll continue to share with you about the wiring inside the house.

Below are the two pictures I took on November 21,2014 in my master bedroom during the wiring took place. The conditions in all those three rooms looked the same, like they were attacked by giant termites.

These are the list of wiring done inside the house as per below:

Master bedroom

1. Air conditioner plug point
2. Water heater plug point
3. Additional plug point for lamp

Bedroom 2

1. Air conditioner plug point
2. Additional plug point for lamp

Bedroom 3

1. Air conditioner plug point
2. Additional plug point for lamp

Hall

1. To transfer the Astro plug point, TV plug point and one plug point across the hall
2. Air conditioner plug point

Kitchen

1. Another 2 additional lamp plug points

Phew, it is almost two weeks and the wiring is not done yet. I don't blame them because there are a lot of works to do! like to drill the wall and ceilings, make a hole for the plug points and to pull the wire from the existing plug point. The total estimated cost for the wiring is RM2,390. I don't know where else to sedut money from. Hahahahah!

Anyway peeps, thanks for reading! Till next time!

My Home Progress : The Kitchen Cabinet

Holla everyone!

My house at Bandar Saujana Putra is almost ready. The kitchen cabinet is ready, and the last part to concentrate on is the wiring and the installation of lamps and fans.

So today, with great pleasure. I present my kitchen cabinet! tadaa......

The installation was done on 15 November 2014... I just love the color of the table top and the marbles. Matching and really compliment each other.

Hubby is checking whether the kitchen hob and the table top are at the right height, I guess he wanna cook sometimes. The Kitchen hob and hood are Rubine, bought it from Koo Lighting. Price tag RM1,400.

The rack on top of my refrigerator area. A little bit too high for a 5'3" woman like me! Hahahah!

I just love the top drawer! Easier for me to arrange my fork and spoon!

This is the sink area... I just love the long drying rack! The price tag for the kitchen cabinet is RM7,800.00. Again, please don't get me wrong, the reason I put the price tag is for anyone to estimate the price if someday he/she decides to install a kitchen cabinet. Cheers!

If anyone interested to call my contractor Ah Heng, 012-625 8888, don't worry he'll come to you. I think he covers most areas in Klang Valley... from Bandar Saujana Putra to Setia Alam..  :))

Well, i hope next time I can afford to buy the big oven! so that I can sell some cupcakes! Ngeheheh!

I cannot wait to move in. I hope my house is ready in the next two weeks! Next week, (29 November 2014) the contractor will install the lamps and fan, of course with my presence to tell him which lamp belongs to which room!

Thank you for reading everyone!

Have a great day!

My Home : The Progress : 9 november 2014

Assalamualaikum w.b.t and hello everyone!

As usual, a thing that we must do on the weekend, to check on the progress of our town house.

So far, i am not really happy with the progress because i think it has been three weeks and the contractor hasn't finished renovating the house yet.

Some pictures on the current progress of the house. i should say it is 30% done.

The store under the stairs is 50% completed.

This is the gypsum divider i am talking about! Even though it is only 50% completed, i am totally happy with it.

and.. look at my kitchen cabinets! I can only see the table top and the marbles! where are the cabinets? Please don't blame the contractor 100%, I am at fault as well because i haven't buy my kitchen hob and hood. Hahah! I hope when the time comes, it can fit into the hole there... :)). I am truly happy with the color combination of both, the table top and the marbles! Wee!

I guess that's all for now! I'll update again on the next progress! see ya!

Thank you for reading!

A little Work A Little Pleasure (Langkawi Island)

Assalamualaikum w.b.t,

Hello people!

A little work..... a little pleasure!

Hey, hey, how was your Deepavali?

Well, we went for a 3 days 2 nights short trip to Langkawi because I have some work there. I brought along my families but due to limited time, we barely have time to explore Langkawi and Haji Ismail Group.  We checked in at Bayview Hotel around 10.00pm and everyone was exhausted. For the record, this is my fifth trip to Langkawi!

This is the view from my hotel room. Room number 518 and i think it was astonishing and breath takingly beautiful!

We visited the Under Water World Langkawi (RM61 for 3 persons, kids below 4 is free, after 20% discount for government servant) the next day, the kids, including the mummy was having so much fun there. Unfortunately the large stingray I wish to see wasn't there anymore.

Nusantara Maju Gamat

Variety of choices with a cheap price!

Laman Mar Mar

On the third day in Langkawi (23rd of October 2014), i had a site visit to some of the places that needs to be refurbish or redecorate for the upcoming ASEAN SUMMIT meeting scheduled in April 2015. We had a short meeting with LADA at 9.00 am, and visited the St. Regis hotel (which is still under construction) and we we briefed about the Break Water project by the contractor. Sadly i forgot to snap any picture there.

Then, we visited other places as pictures below;

Sad looking Taman CHOGM

Langkawi Falls, it is a man made structure, was a gift to Tun Mahathir from Gerbang Perdana, but it was poorly maintained.

Langkawi SkyBridge which is currently close for some major renovations
While the second picture on the right...that was me taking a picture on the bridge.  It was a hot and sunny day, we need some motivation. It was scheduled to open end of the year, hopefully.

I wish I can stay longer and shop and explore more.. but I'll definitely revisit Langkawi again, at that time, I'll definitely stay there for 5 days! Yeehaa!

Thanks for reading!

My Home : The Progress (Oct 18,2014)

Assalamualaikum w.b.t and good morning everyone!

So how was everybody's weekend?

We went to check on the house on Saturday morning, and I met my contractor to discuss further on the house renovations.

After a short discussion, here are some works I've constructed the contractor to do :
  1. To install a backyard awning - I specifically requested for a red color awning, so that it will match with my neighbor's awning. Hahaha! very funny.
  2. To build a store under the stairs - White in color, no handle.
  3. To build a gypsum divider between the dining area and my kitchen
  4. Lastly but the best part !!! To install a Kitchen Cabinet - I choose light oak color with a dark marble table top, a  bit of blueish marbles  at the cooking area. I hope it will turn out nicely.
The next day, we went to Koo Lighting which is located at Seri Kembangan, Selangor, to look for the measurement of my cooker hob. I told hubby that my choice is Rubine. We found the one that we want, the model is RGH AGATA 2B. The cost of a complete package is RM2869, but it is reduced to RM1449 since I only asked for the cooker hob and hood. I am actually in the middle of doing a market survey, to find the best price of the same model. When I reached home, I opened one of the monthly pamphlets they sent us once in two months, I found an even greater bargain for those two items which is RM1199.00 (almost RM300 difference).

In fact, Koo Lighting sells everything associated to lighting, kitchen, furniture and bathroom. I was quite impressed by how the treatment given by them even though we didn't buy anything. They even offered us to pay a minimal deposit to lock the price of the cooker hob and hood. But hey, I am just browsing through yeah. No string attached.. yet. Hahahahha! Anyway here's the address (if anyone is interested to visit them):

Koo Lighting
D-16-G, D-16-1 & D-16-2
Jalan Atmosphere 7
Pusat Perniagaan The Athmosphere
Bandar Putra Permai
43300 Seri Kembangan
Selangor Darul Ehsan.

I hope everything turns out just fine and I can move in end of December....

Thanks for reading! Have a nice day everyone!

My Home : Oh I Just Love My White Grill! - The grill Installation -

Date : September 25, 2014

Assalamualaikum w.b.t,

Hoookaaaaiiii people! I am super excited to announce (clearing my throat) that my white grill has been successfully installed!!!!!!!1

While the developer is (still) working on some defects in the house... my contractor (Ah Heng) from SKS Construction Sdn. Bhd. did a great job installing the white grill at le home. I choose this design because it is simple, modern, contemporary and the best part of all... affordable.

Well, i just fall in love the first time i saw them, given the fact I don't have a hard time choosing  the design I loved. I've browsed through the Internet for some ideas, set my budget and when the day came, I just chose the design from the contractor's Ipad. hahahahah! and thankfully, it came out right and awesome! Well, if you asked my why I choose this design, it is simply because they match our white front and back gate as well.

My front door.

My kitchen door

My third bedroom

Front small window

So, just for the record, total cost for the grill installation is RM1,600.00, but the actual price quoted by Ah Heng is RM1,700.00. As at now, Hubby and I are busy thinking what to do next...... Those in our list are 20' x 4' back area awning, a divider between the dining area and the kitchen and lastly, store room under the stairs. I am taking, one step at a time, and because money seems to be a constraint. However, I can't wait to move out from my current house because...... i am paying so much for both house! I am officially broke.

Till next time. Thanks for reading!

My Home : The Letter Of Clearance

So.... I took a leave from work yesterday (August 26.2014) because I thought I'll get my house keys once I visit LBS at Plaza Seri Setia. Unfortunately due to wrong advises given by one of their officers, I'll only get to collect my house keys on September 5th,2014 which is in  another 10 days! So, yesterday, I only got to sign the Letter of Clearance and booked a slot for my keys collection.

Grrrrr! Menyampahnye la hai! I thought of installing the grill this week (Friday) but due to this I have to waiiiittt again! and duit untuk grill dah ada! Jgn aku pegi beli Tod's G bag sudah! Hahahahah!

Anyway! Thanks for reading!

My Home : The Plan

Dear people,

From now on, I'll update my blog mostly on the progress of completing the interior and exterior of my home.  It is a small home but i hope we can fill it with so much love. In fact we can collect the house keys from LBS already, but I just don't have time to do so.

We visited the house yesterday, still unsure of our unit, we entered the one numbered 27A or 29A  (can't remember the exact number). I plan to build a wall to separate the dining area and the kitchen, demolish the utility wall, to hide the master bedroom door and the bedroom 2 door at the utility area and my utmost plan is to install a kitchen cabinet. Since the size of my kitchen is very small, 7' x 3' I am very sure the cost will be nothing more than RM3000. :)

This is the layout plan of our townhouse. Mine is the lower unit.

I have done so many readings over the Internet, but I haven't done any ground works, to visit the actual shops and ask for the real quotations. We've got one quotation for a simple grill, which is RM1,700.00 for the whole house. I think it is expensive. Maybe I'll go to Dengkil this weekend to find the best affordable price for our house grill.

I am so excited to move out from my current house (Kuarters Kerajaan) because i feel that the house is too big for the four of us, to many rooms and creepy at times. Hahahahhaha!

Anyway, I'll update every progress, just for the memories... :))

Love,
Mummy Sarah & Rayyan

Another 6 Days to Hari Raya Aidilfitri

Hello Monday!

It is rather odd to start writing again after my last post... almost 6 or 7 months ago! I must have been very busy or i just don't write much after the existence of Instagram.

Today is 23rd Ramadhan 1435H.. n Alhamdulillah... we will be celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri another 6 days. This year color code is Royal Blue! We rarely eat out this Ramadhan, perhaps to avoid the hassle of cranky and annoying (in a cute way, of course) kids, it is easier to tapau some dishes from my office cafeteria and reheat them at home. taste as good as home made dishes. But, i cooked on the weekends....and i have tried a new recipe in which i love so much... butter prawn!!! hey, i am not that hopeless in cooking. Hahahahah!

Next update is on my townhouse, the one i bought last year, remember? I checked on BPP website's last Thursday and found out that the full payment has been disbursed to the developer. I immediately called them on Friday and yes! I can pick up my house keys anytime Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.30pm. I think i better celebrate Raya first, and get the keys probably two or three weeks after Raya. Exciting isn't it? Hurm, What should I do after I collect the keys? Mr Google please help me! The thing in my mind is, to snap as many pictures of every corner of the house... to check for defects. Plus, I better list down things to buy and the cost!!!!!

Well, i think i better stop now, as i need to get my work done! No matter how busy we are, please remember our friends in Palestine and pray for them. Let us #PrayforGaza #PrayforMH370 #PrayforMH17... Remember, Allah is here and Justice will prevail....

Lots of Love,

Mummy Sarah & Rayyan

Trip To Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Hello everyone! Smile smile smile!

This entry is about my family trip to Ho Chi Minh City on 17th to 20th Jan 2014. Please enjoy reading!

Tips!

1. Money - Bring a lot of RM and convert it to VND in Vietnam! You'll get higher RM value here. Plus, if your plan is to shop in Ben Thanh Market or somewhere in Malaysia Street worry not, they accept RM, VND and USD. Please don't forget to activate your ATM card for overseas usage.. Kalut nanti! hahaha!

2.  Transportation - Once you reached the airport, head towards the front door from the departure hall, turn left and walk straight, there's a lift on the left sight just before Burger King, go up to level 2, find your Vinasun Taxi there. The taxi fare is cheap. I was charged around 140,000 VND (RM+-25) from airport to my hotel. We travel by Vinasun to go here and there in Vietnam... in average the taxi fair is about 50,000VND (RM8+-).

3.  Accomodation - It is best to book your hotel through the hotel online booking. I booked Blessing 1 hotel through booking.com and I paid 3,780,000.00VND (RM570+-) for 3 nights stay. It is strategically located at Malaysian Street , near halal restaurants, convenient store and ATM.The best part is, the hotel is 5 minutes away by foot to Ben Thanh Market!

4.   Communication -Most of the Vietnamese (taxi driver, police, security guard, bell boy) can't speak English very well, some sellers can speak Malay though, so it is important to print out your hotel address or whatever place you want to go so that they can read and take you to the right place!

5.   Food - I cant say much about Vietnamese food because we only eat at Warung Saigon 1Malaysia. Chinese Cuisine, affordable price range from 80,000 VND (RM13+-) to 150,000 VND (RM25+-). People! please try their Trung Nguyen Vietnam Coffee! The best in the world!

Going Places!

Arrival

The View of Malaysia Street from Our Hotel Room

Day 2

Day 2 - We pay a visit to the War Remnants Museum
Entrance Fee : 15,000 VND per person

Actually, we have planned to watch a Water Dragon puppet show later in the evening, somehow the show was full and we booked for the next day slot. So that evening we take a brisk walk along Saigon Park.

Day 3

Day 3 - A quick visit to Ben Thanh Market to get some Vietnam Cotton. In total, we bought 30 pieces of Vietnam Cotton. In fact, there was a Night Market every night around Ben Thanh market, the goods sold are similar to the one in Ben Thanh market only lesser choice. We went to the night market everyday... i repeat EVERYDAY! Hahahahahha! Sorry no pictures here... night market looks similar with the one in Malaysia.. use your imagination people!  hihihihi!

Notre Dame Cathederal .

Ho Chi Minh Central Post Office

Walk like this to reach your next destination... Hard Rock Cafe HCMC!

Give this lady a chair! she's all tired.

Finally, The Water Dragon Puppet Show. A must visit place if you go to HCMC! Very interesting show but I cant concentrate on the show because I was busy breastfeeding my cranky baby.
Entrance Fee is 160,000VND (RM22+-)

To sum everything up, Vietnamese people are very friendly, nice and helpful. I don't know why but they seems to like my girl's curly hair. Maybe curly hair is somewhat rare in Vietnam. Hahhahah! We don't get a chance to visit Mekong River and Chu Chi Tunnel though, if someday Allah permits, we'll pay HCMC a visit again! Thanks HCMC for treating us well!

Next in line is Jakarta!

Thanks for reading!

On tips to cope with the rise of cost of living

Well hello! 2014 will be a rather challenging year for me... The most challenging is my house is expected to finish in August (or earlier) so I'll start paying for my housing loan!!!! Exact amount is RM1300++ a month. Once the house is ready, I'll pay RM3.80 toll to go back and forth from home sweet home to my office. Phew, at that time the battle to satisfy wants and to fulfill needs will arise.

....and today, I happened to click http://www.thestar.com.my/Business/Business-News/2014/01/13/Finding-newmoney/  found few tips to cope with the rise of cost of living. The point of jotting it down here (even most of the times it is so hard to follow) is, on how we can live a simple life besides care for the environment and of course... our wallet.... so ladies and gentlemen.........

1. Drink water.Stop ordering expensive drink - I've applied only one sweet beverage in a day - Yes this may help.
2. Batch your errands. Always have a shopping list - Shopping list and I are like the best of friends. But somehow the best friends can turn you down.. Anyway this year I'll only buy what I've list and budgeted :) -   Yes this may help.
3. Stay home more. Spend time with your family - hurm.... Perhaps a walk in the park will help. Hurm.....
4. Cancel subscriptions. You may not even miss them. I don't have any subscriptions for magazines and papers, but to cancel my STREAMYX subscriptions? It's rather obnoxious.
Hurm.....

5. Do it yourself. Learn to be a handy man or woman. My hubby is my handyman. Yes, we save a lot here. Yes this may help.
6. Stop paying interest. Pay in cash or don’t buy if you can’t afford it - This means say No No No to Credit Card? -  Yes this may help.
7. Travel on a budget. Budget travels can be fun. - Yes this may help.
8. Use cellphone sparingly. Optimise on free messaging services. - Yes this may help.
9. Cut or colour your own hair. Ask a friend to help you. - I don't color my hair. But to everything other than this might be useful.
10. Maintain your things. Pay for fewer repairs. Yes this may help.
11. Save energy. Do a good deed for the environment. Yes this may help.
12. Buy bargain clothing. Dress down - Hurm.....
13. Plan ahead. Buy in bulk - Yeah we buy in bulk, our kitchen towel. Hurm..... Yes this may help.
14. Cook ahead. Freeze the extras. Hurm....
15. Don't wash clothes so often. Re-wear them at least twice. This is a joke right? Hurm.....
16. Save on groceries. Shop on discount days and discount vouchers. Yes this may help.
17. Frugal festivals. Keep them simple. So simple Baju Raya... No Designer Baju Raya till I earn enough to afford one. *wink *wink -  Yes this may help.
18. Look for used items first. They can be as good as new - I'm not sure about this as I think buying used item involving luck. The item is in between good or spoilt. Hurm..... -
19. Eat out less except on weekends. Hurm, was thinking about Pizza home delivery tonight. Sacrifice wants! Focus on Needs!!  Yes this may help.
20. Bag lunch to work. It’s healthier. I cannot tolerate this SORRY! I'm not a person who wake up early just to save RM15 lunch money!!! Next!  Hurm..... -
21. Don’t window shop. Don’t get tempted. Bye bye IG shop! My mantra is, If i look at one thing and I'll sleep on it. If I still have that thing on my head day after, only then I'll make the purchase. Yes this may help.
22. Use the library. Read online.Yes this may help.
23. Find free entertainment on the Internet. Kids are the latest entertainment! Haven't you heard? -  Yes this may help.
24. Find frugal exercise like walking. Yes this may help.
25. Stay healthy and keep medical bills low.Yes this may help.
26. Carpool, walk or cycle if you can.Hurm..... -
27. Look for discounts. Don’t be shy to ask.Yes this may help.
28. Sell your clutter. Get organised too. or maybe donate.... Yes, I'll donate my clutter more oftenYes this may help.
29. Reduce smoking. Protect your lungs. Not applicable
30. Stop clubbing. Care for your liver and eardrums too. Not applicable

So thank you for the tips The Star! and peeps wait no more, it's time to switch and be different!! Hihiks!
