BABY HATCH

Does it ever occurred to any of us one day; we might make a mistake beyond our DEVIL’s imagination? While we’re thinking, someone did it, one terrible mistake done, unforgiveable by others. Unwanted pregnancy is what I meant. Recently, we’ve seen a lot of innocent babies majorly newborn, abandoned in a shack, buried heartlessly, and dumped in trash, river even burned to death. As a society, we may offer the help to them, but sadly they chose to kill their own flesh and blood.

I’ve read so many articles about baby hatch. A baby hatch is a place where mothers who are unable or unwilling to take care of their babies can leave them in a safe environment where they will be cared for (Circle of Love, Starmag, June 06,2010). According to the article, baby hatches are not new in countries like Pakistan, Germany, Japan and India.

In Malaysia, this honorable effort has been taken by OrphanCARE in a mission to save babies and to provide shelter to them before adoption. OrphanCARE is a smart partner of The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry. OrphanCARE is located in a bungalow, in a quiet residential part of Kampung Tunku, Petaling Jaya.

The procedures for the adoption from the OrphanCARE are easy.
  • Mother deposited a baby she wishes to let go / unable to take care of
  • OrphanCARE will inform the Social Welfare Department (Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat
  • OrphanCARE will send the baby for checkup. OrphanCARE will ensure the mother signed
  • a consent form for child adoption. If not, OrphanCARE will lodge a police report
  • OrphanCARE contact applicant ( mother for adoption)
  • Interview held between the mother and OrphanCARE –Application will then goes to JKM and JKM will send a counselor for home visit
  • If JKM satisfies, they will give their approval

The process will take only a few days to settle.

In my point of view, we must look positively for the effort they have taken for one and only reason, everyone deserves to live in this world. If the mother is not willing to take care of them, just let them go, but of course to the promising hands. U may log in to www.orphancare.org.my to know more on OrphanCARE.
